The extremely popular Winter Horticulture Series presented annually by the Camden Garden Club in the Picker Room of Camden Public Library returned Tuesday, January 29 at 10:00 am. The featured speaker, Dennis Milliken, is a lifelong gardener who has worked in the horticulture industry for over 40 years, most recently at Green Thumb in Rockport. He is currently a member of the board of trustees at Merryspring Nature Center.
Many people take their plants indoors in the winter but even the hardiest of them can have issues. Milliken discussed proper winter care, including getting enough sunlight during the darkest months, keeping humidity in check, and how to identify and treat for the tiny pests that can harm your plants indoors.
Camden Garden Club is a member of the Garden Club Federation of Maine and National Garden Clubs, Inc. The weekly Winter Horticulture Series is free and open to the public and will continue on Tuesdays throughout February. Guests and prospective members are always welcome.
