Gardening for the Senses – Camden Garden Club Winter Horticulture Series, January 30

The inaugural presentation of Camden Garden Club’s very popular Winter Horticulture Series took place on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Picker Room of Camden Public Library.

Speaker Irene Brady Barber is a program coordinator for the Adult Horticulture Education and Horticultural Therapy programs at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens currently developing a Center for Professional Horticulture and expanding the existing Horticultural Therapy program there.  She believes gardening to be a sentimental and nourishing experience and her topic, Gardening for the Senses, explored garden designs, methods and techniques that will help achieve the most enjoyment out of a garden.  Ms. Barber highlighted a selection of plants specific to fulfilling intended sensory experiences and making spaces more open, more rejuvenating and more calming depending on tactile, visual, audible and aromatic components.
